The ritual act of re-connecting broken material to create a new image, in the form of a unique mosaic, echos my personal aspiration to connect people through the act of collaboration and handwork.<\/p>\r\n

From March to May 2025, I worked with visitors to Ukraine House in Washington, D.C. to create a wall mosaic. The design was inspired by the diverse embroidery motifs that were painted by the approximately 30 participants and then laid with glass mosaic tiles.<\/p>\r\n

Takoma Park Montessori School is a preschool \u00a0for 2-4 year olds near Washington DC. Together with their parents, they each created a mosaic square in an afterschool workshop. The design is based on the geometric shapes found in the teaching materials. Children, teachers, and parents were thrilled with this activity, which took placein spring of 2025.<\/p>\r\n

On September 12 2024 we unveiled the \u201cEmbroidery\u201d Mosaic which I created together with 30+ members of the Worldbank Family Network in Washington DC and worldwide. It was such a joyful project using embroidery and other textile patterns as inspiration for the motives.<\/p>\r\n

In \u00a02022 <\/em><\/span>\u00a0I initiated the Climate Change Community Mosaic Project in Beijing. First 15 people from Beijing came together to deliberate about Climate Change and then design symbols for a mosaic on the basis of their discussion points. During the month of March 2022 they crafted these mosaics with their friends and the wider public to not only use cognitive processes but also physical action to penetrate the topic of climate change further. In the end about 60 citizens of Beijing\/China participated and it was installed at the German Embassy school and community centre in Beijing on April 21, 2022.<\/p>\r\nDokumentation Deutsch (PDF)<\/span><\/a>\r\nDocumentation English (PDF)<\/span><\/a>\r\n
