I met Thomas at the joint meeting of the German and British Association of mosaic artists in York last October. Thomas is famous for his mosaics designs in which he uses the construction of pixels known in the photographic world. <br \/>We are currently working together on a project where he uses his self written software to produce a mosaicified version of a design of me.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Speaking over these and that in the world of mosaics Thomas mentioned the mosaic mural \u201c Frankfurter Treppe\u201d inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shkunst.de\/texte\">Stephan Huber <\/a>at the Foyer of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maintower.de\/en\/art-collection\/art-in-main-tower\">Maintower<\/a>, at the Neue Mainzer Stra\u00dfe in the middle of the City of Frankfurt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1985\" height=\"2560\" class=\"wp-image-2397\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mosaicmoments.de\/mosaic2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7910-scaled-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mosaicmoments.de\/mosaic2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7910-scaled-1.jpeg 1985w, https:\/\/www.mosaicmoments.de\/mosaic2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7910-scaled-1-233x300.jpeg 233w, https:\/\/www.mosaicmoments.de\/mosaic2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7910-scaled-1-768x990.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.mosaicmoments.de\/mosaic2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7910-scaled-1-794x1024.jpeg 794w, https:\/\/www.mosaicmoments.de\/mosaic2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7910-scaled-1-1191x1536.jpeg 1191w, https:\/\/www.mosaicmoments.de\/mosaic2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_7910-scaled-1-1588x2048.jpeg 1588w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1985px) 100vw, 1985px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This afternoon I took the tram no 5 to go and visit this mosaic.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Walking along Neue Mainzer Stra\u00dfe connects Opernplatz with Willi &#8211; Brandt &#8211; Platz. It\u2019s a typical city street which is darkend from the high rises. Already through the glass front the intense blue of the sides of the mural is visible. Thomas told me that they counted 270 hours of work per square meter. The mosaic workshop of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayer-of-munich.com\/projekte\/mosaikprojekte.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mayer of Munich<\/a> created the mosaic after a computerized design of e photo montage by Stephan Huber.
